Tina

 Unknown Bio Grandfather

Tina is a friend who casually said her surname was her stepdad's and her bio dad's surname was his stepdad's. Was able to find her and her bio grandfather's surname in a matter of hours just through documentation. Will be performing DNA triangulation to ensure accuracy.

African-American Family Exploration

Her daughter had a second grade ethnicity project due and it was suggested she bring a dish to share. As is the plight of most Black U.S. citizens, only DNA can reveal from where in Africa they derived. We took a genealogical trip back to see what we could find about from whom they derived, until we knew from where. Her daughter's third great grandfather, born 1868, was an African-American farm proprietor in Oklahoma territory, a peanut farmer, specifically. So, her dish, for now, must include peanuts in honor of him!

Stories & Testimonials

JS
Texas
Bio Father

He had a gut feeling his "dad" was not his dad. He knew his mother's name, but never met her before her passing. He took an Ancestry.com test and shared his results with me. Through DNA triangulation of his matches, we pinpointed his birth father's identity. Unfortunately, he has, too, passed. All his paternal matches were in England where his bio father was born. He came to the US as a seven year old to a couple who only had one child. Finding photos and history on him has offered JS much comfort to finally have his answers and a face to a big unknown. His birth certificates have been ordered from the GRO and JS knows his "real" last name, he is debating if he wants to change it. His young son will now be blessed by all the work and research he completed for him in locating his roots.

Validating family lore with documents

I saw Mike's surname on his son's baseball uniform. I bravely asked him if he knew the roots of it. He did not, all he knew was his father was Jewish and came from Europe through Canada maybe. Google didn't recognize the name either! We were able to track his family back to Russia-Poland (Lithuania) around the time of the 1840 November uprising. They fled from modern day Lithuania to England to Canada and finally Flint, Michigan, a generation in each!

"Life is about the choices you make. Choosing to let Britta help you and to become a part of your life is one of the best decisions you will ever make. Britta is an energetic, compassionate, incredibly creative, and highly organized individual. If you give her a task, count on it getting done. Britta’s joy in life has always been, being there for others and helping them in any way she can. If you want someone you can trust to be honest with you, help you make decisions, give you peace of mind, stay within your budget, and give you that “Wow, I can’t believe how amazing this turned out” feeling. Give her a call. Britta is a gift you give yourself."

Gary
San Diego
Bio Grandfather's Surname

His grandfather was unofficially adopted by a neighboring family in British Guiana in the early '20s. He grew up and moved his family named for his adoptive parents to Canada, where his son and grandson, Gary, was born. Gary's dad then immigrated to the U.S. for work. They are Portuguese and began as "indentured servants" in British Guiana. He knew his grandfather's biological last name, so we are on the case for photos of this family and may even make a trip there!

Josh
Louisiana
Bio Mother & Father

Josh was adopted at birth to a loving couple. By his mid-thirties, he was experiencing some health issues and tested at 23 & Me to connect with any bio family for medical history. He, fortunately, matched my mom so was a third cousin of mine. I told him, we can talk medical history, but do you want to know your parents?! He was all in! Within 24 hours, you couldn't make up his story! Conceived to an unwed couple, mom a teen, dad a military man in Kentucky, she was sent to have him in Texas and he was adopted to Louisiana. Both of his birth parents lived hard lives and passed early, so he will not meet them. Reinforced is that God had a better life and plan for him with his adopted parents and he probably would have otherwise. Just knowing has ended the anxiety of not knowing.
